Norse Code - what a success! We knew that the 5 Scandinavian speakers chosen for their success and influence in their respective design disciplines would have something to teach, but we didn't quite anticipate the level of inspiration, stimulation and idea sharing they brought to the day.
Norse Code - 'Unlocking the principals of Scandinavian design in business' in conjunction with Volvo was the first event of it's kind put on by us (NZSBA) and BRR. It was a full day conference held at The University of Auckland Business School featuring 50 minute keynote speeches from:

Author of 'Scandinavian Design Beyond the Myth'
(authority on Scandinavian design history)
Stina Nilimaa Wickström
Design Director of Volvo Construction Equipment
(board member of the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation)
Industrial Designer and Furniture design at Monica Förster Design Studio
Textile designer at Sanna Annukka Design
(designs for Marimekko)
Industrial Designer at David Lewis Design
(designs for Bang & Olufsen)
It was a real opportunity to compare notes with a culture that has embraced design in such a way it is now embedded in it's business practices and ingrained in the national psyche.
The day was MC'd by Brian Richards of BRR who joined the dots with thoughtful commentary. The organisation of the event and catering were top class and the timetable provided great networking opportunities for attendees. The Saturday event was kicked off with a Nordic Embassy Reception on the Friday evening, where the speakers were introduced to guests, and was again a valuable networking opportunity.
The feedback from attendees confirmed the value and insight they received and we were strongly encouraged to do it again.
"It was a fantastic, inspiring initiative and I hope one to be continued in the future! There is such great potential in our country's culture and people and events like this are exactly what is needed to nurture local design/business industries to blossom." Christina
Over the next few weeks we will be posting overviews of each of the speakers' presentations to the website, so please follow along for the journey.
